Charity Overview

Children of Fire is Africa’s first charity dedicated to burns victims. It has helped more than 450 of the continent’s most badly burnt children so that they can regain hand or limb function, eyesight, hairlines and have access to reconstructive surgery. The charity also provide a fire safety programme to community members in remote areas. These classes teach villagers about fire prevention and first aid, so should an accident occur, burn victims are more likely to receive assistance onsite from someone in the local community. Recipients of the programme are also taught how to use paraffin, gel stoves and candles safely. Many of the burn victim children the organisation support have grown up to become successful members of society and have been able to live normal, happy lives following their accidents.
